An extension line from Skibbereen from the main line that went from there to Bantry.
There are two plaques on a pillar of the viaduct stating:
a)
West Carbery Tramway and Light Railway
1886 - 1947
The first scheduled train crossed over this bridge on Tuesday 7th September 1886. The final train ran on Saturday 25th January 1947.
