THIS ANCHOR FROM A SHIP OF THE 1796 FRENCH ARMADA WAS RECOVERED OFF THE NORTH EAST POINT OF WHIDDY ISLAND BANTRY BAY IN 1080 BY THE DUTCH SALVAGE CO “SMITH TAK”

IN THE CUSTODY OF MR. DONAL MC .CARTHY, HOUSE OF CRAFTS, WOLFE TONE SQUARE, FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS , WHO PRESENTED IT TO CORK COUNTY COUNCIL. IN 1995 FOR- ERECTION IN BANTRY SQUARE ON THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ILL-FATED FRENCH ARMADA
